Last Day: Baden & Luzern

I have watched an American film 'Save the last Dance' and the last action was a very good one. In my home town in Ogoni, we always say 'the end of a thing is better than the beginning' but not so with my visit to Switzerland where I joined the Youths in a caravan across some great cities for a full week. Towards the end of this remarkable visit, I was pained by the thought of missing some good friends. Parting is painful! Although, I had a wonderful time staying in Daniele's beautiful home, it couldn't take away my pains of missing the tall mom-Aurelie who met me first upon arrival, the engine of the caravan-Marlyse and her calls 'Celestine, you have 3 minutes to leave here'. There were other great people like Nicolas de zibra, Iris the tall slim girl, Laura, Julia and Daniel whose home I stayed twice.
I love Amnesty Switzerland, I love the youths, I love the land, and I love the people!

Et voilà, dernier jour.

on a cru d'abord, vu la pluie et le froid à Zürich, qu' on n'arriverait jamais à sortir de l'appartement de Daniel dans le kreis 5....

A Baden, le temps s'améliore. L'accueil des 2 groupes de Baden (les jeunes et le groupe "adulte") est si chaleureux que soudain la pluie cesse et la motivation remonte en flèche.

Pour une dernière action de la caravane, ces quelques heures dans la zone piétonne de Badensont une bénédiction. (marlyse)

wir sind in luzern!

heute morgen früh versprach uns der blick aus dem fenster nichts gutes: es regnete in strömen...nach einem feinen zmorge brachen wir aber trotzdem auf und radelten an den bahnhof. unsere reise führte uns nach baden, wo die badner einen super stand mit pipeline und tankstelle aufgestellt hatten. nach dem unterschriften sammeln kamen wir zum letzten mal in den genuss des veloverladens...=)

hier im lafourmi wurden wir mit köstlichem afrikanischem essen verwöhnt und freuen uns jetzt auf die abschlussrede von celestine und die konzerte!

The closing concert was a good one. It attracted around 250 youth from the Luzern area, despite the melted snow and mad weather, and around 50 Amnesty/action caravan-related people. Celestine gave his last speech and was already very emotional about leaving, and the young Amnesty activists were obviously very touched by their encounter with him. I met there with people from the African diaspora and was very touched by how much commitment they had, each in their own way, to bring change in their countries of origin. Things will change, so many people are working for it at various levels! (Aurélie)
